Wedding Memo Hoop
Memo Hoop, a signature product of my small business, is a photo frame in disguise of an embroidery hoop, where you can display your photo in the most unique way. This project is to present pieces that were specially designed and made for my favorite kind of event - Weddings.

— Wedding gift for Tien’s order

Tien wanted a Memo Hoop as a gift for her friend’s wedding, so I asked this one question whenever it comes to the subject: “What’s the theme and color palette?”. The answer was “light pink, light blue/green, coral and yellow”. However, I used hot pink as the main color instead for the piece to stand out, and added a little purple from their wedding invitations for harmony and elegance.
— Nguyen’s gift for her parents

Nguyen is the first person to have trusted me with my largest Memo Hoop ever, made as a gift for her parents on her wedding day.

“Today a Bride
Tomorrow a Wife
But forever your youngest Daughter.”

The design was based on her wedding concept of purple wildflower meadow, which I think was inspired by her name Thảo Nguyên (meaning “meadow”). The moment I finished the design and got her approval, I couldn’t wait to get right onto it. However, the most exciting part was at the end when I found that perfect purple lace ribbon that couldn’t match any better.
— Thanh’s gift for her parents

Thanh really liked the large 32cm hoop I made for Nguyen, so she ordered one as a present for her parents, also on her wedding occasion. Her requests were very specific. Apart from the given text and photo, she wanted light pink mix with purple and white, orchids and apricot blossoms were must-haves, because her mom’s name is Mai (meaning “apricot blossom”).

It was a challenge coming up with the design. I tend to draw floral designs in 2 ways: (1) flowers growing from the ground and (2) floral wreaths. However this time, I had to go out of my way for a bit consider orchid’s sturdy branch and its luxury vibe. Yes, I guess we can all agree that orchids don’t give off the wild-flower energy. Therefore, I drew this simple arrangement that was inspired by orchid centerpieces. The comforting part was how perfectly the yellow apricot blossoms joined in thanks to some yellow from the orchids’ lips. Beside that, the long-stem purple flowers (delphinium inspired) were the main factor to help soften and harmonize everything. Using vines as my signature touch up, I was satisfied with the result, and so was my client.
